Temple Grandin: The world needs all kinds of minds

Have you heard of Temple Grandin? She is a brilliant autistic woman. My brother has been telling me about her books. I bought Thinking in Pictures but haven't read it yet. HBO has made a movie about her starting Claire Danes, they've been playing it the past few weeks and it's available on demand right now if you have Comcast & HBO. The movie is entitled Temple Grandin.

It Is Good To Laugh

I love Pioneer Woman's website. She makes food of the type you want to linger over the photos... and she's funny. And she doesn't pretend to be perfect.... and she's funny.

When I am Old

Oh let's be these ladies when we're old!!!!

THIS is what's missing from my life. A standing Pie Date with a friend every Friday at 4:00. Unfortunately I don't know anyplace on this side of town to go and get a GOOD slice of Pie. How I miss Marie Callendar's! Well perhaps Marie Callendar's will have returned to Houston by the time I'm 94.

If you're wondering what on earth I'm talking about. I just read a blog post by The Pioneer Woman about visiting her Ga-ga. And then you can visit Marie Callendar's Website unless you live near one, in which case, go there & eat pie, instead! I grew up 2 miles from the 1st & Original Marie Callendar's restaurant how I miss their German Chocolate & Coconut Custard pies!

Things We Share: Digital Layout

Today I made my 2nd attempt at digital scrapbooking & it was so EASY. I took a FREE tutorial: Get Started for FREE! Hybrid and Digital Scrapbook Quick Start tutorial at Jessicaspraug.com. There is a free template to put what you've learned into practice and make the page.

I'm getting better at working in Photoshop Elements, I even did a little editing of the photo. Here was the original photo. I shifted the colors to go with the page and flipped the image to make the photo fit better (& to make it so the flowers on Heather's shirt would show.) I just wish I knew how to make my sunglasses darker, I always thought it looked weird that you could see my eyes through those glasses. Also isn't it great that I was able to crop out the guy with the beer gut in the background! It's too bad we don't know that lady in pink who is perfectly framed between us. I like this digital thing.
...and yes, I went back and fixed it so it says princesses I was just too lazy to post it on Photobucket again.

Here is how it would have looked with the photo not flipped.... not only do we fit differently on the page, but the colors were better balanced by putting heather's blue shirt over next to the orange.

Value & Worth

I actually tweeted that today. I find that now I have the complete statement. To continue in the same vein...

My value as a person does not come from the state of my house.
